Now in its 11th year, the Best Practices competition is held to highlight and promote innovation and ingenuity in the application and implication of standards for business needs. First instituted in 1999, the competition is open to associations, organizations, institutions, states, agencies, providers and individuals that have collaborated to design and/or implement an electronic standardization initiative via a published article, a specific implementation, and/or or other medium.

A Model of an Electronic Standardization Initiative
The Best Practices Competition for 2009 is open for submissions until February 1, 2010. Documents detailing the scope of a project, participants, type of standards employed, relevant dates of project milestones, copies of articles (if an article submission), outline of mission/objectives and any related statistics (number of transactions transmitted, estimated cost savings, etc.) should be included in the submission.

All entries will be judged by the PESC Board of Directors. First place and those receiving special recognition will be notified by March 1, 2010, an official public announcement will be made immediately before the Spring 2010 Data Summit, and the award presentation will be made during the general session of the Spring 2010 Data Summit.
